It’s a funny period, this time of the year. The hours and days between Christmas and New Year where nothing really happens and nobody knows what day it is. A time to eat, drink and chill and a great opportunity to get cosied up with your dearly beloved and take a moment to begin your early plans for the biggest day of your life!

1. INSPIRATION
The most exciting part of wedding planning!
Let’s be honest, Pinterest is going to be your first port of call when planning your open-air celebration but don’t let it overwhelm you! Take control and start by organising your boards. Whether it’s Flowers, Dining or Styling don’t even consider themes just yet, let your heart do all the work and pin anything and everything that takes your fancy! There’s so many exciting and creative ideas out there to inspire your own marquee wedding, so be open minded and do a bit of research before settling on one.
It goes without saying but there are obviously other research avenues you can take! We’re big lovers of wedding magazines here at The Canvas Tent Company HQ, something to have and to hold and to cut and to stick if you’re feeling creative and want to physically scrapbook your planning process.
Follow hashtags on social media platforms – our obvious favourite is #thecanvastentco – seek out wedding blogs and get those dates in your diary for the all important open days, showcases and wedding fairs – we’ll be announcing ours early in the new year!

2. YOU DO YOU
For now, focus on just the both of you and your big day, big dreams!
Kick back, relax and swap notes, inspirational boards and your cut and paste ideas. Enjoy this time together, just the two of you by collating and collecting and following your hearts.
Further down the line, you can involve your loved ones by inviting them to join you at open days and wedding fairs, or by setting up a blog to share the process of your outdoor wedding planning journey. Let your friends and family into your vision but remember that it’s your day and you really must do things your way!

3. GUEST NUMBERS
Without an idea of guest numbers, you aren’t really going to get anywhere. The cost for your marquee wedding is determined by the number of guests who will be at your outdoor celebration, so one of the first things you really need to do during the early stages of your planning is to get that list written! Start with your nearest and dearest and then split your list into two. Make a note of your day and evening guests as you work out who it is you really want to share your special day with.

4. BUDGET
Work out your budget and remember to make allowances. There will be essentials that you will need to factor in alongside all the glamorous stuff!
We provide and co-ordinate all the ‘behind the scenes’ bits for your wedding to ensure that everything runs efficiently during the lead up to your wedding day. Facilities such as catering tents, generators and toilets are all things that you will most likely need to cost for if you choose to have a marquee wedding. Keep a little extra to one side for all the ancillary bits and do chat to us if you are unsure about any of the necessities.

5. SET A DATE & BOOK IT
For now, a vague date is helpful, we can check our availability and chat to you about your options around that day.
A little further down the line - and we really can’t stress this enough – once you’re set on a date and you’ve met us onsite and are happy with our services then let’s book that marquee in - we wouldn’t want you to be disappointed!
Once you have secured the structure, you’ll find that everything else will fall into place. We offer lots of flexibility in the lead up to your event and can easily make changes to ensure you are getting exactly what you want for the big day.
