Why An Outdoor Wedding Ceremony Could Work For You

We’ve said it once before and we’re likely to say it a thousand times more - a marquee wedding is a fantastic opportunity to be bold, get creative and do something truly memorable! If you’re considering exchanging your vows out in the open-air, we can help you plan for the moment you say ‘I do’ in a way that creates a long-lasting memory for you and your guests.

At this time of unrest, the future is a little uncertain but if you’re one of those faced with a church cancellation due to social distancing implications, why not plan for your ceremony anyway?!

The laws of having a ceremony in an unlicensed location can complicate things a little. Since the Victorian times, the UK law restricts where people can get a legal marriage and states that the registration needs to take place under a licensed building or structure. As our attitudes to marriage are changing and traditional values are evolving, the government has been in the process of reviewing these tired rules and regs and it’s looking likely that this review will now be accelerated due to the current climate.

There’s an increasing number of couples choosing to have ‘alternative’ ceremonies in their own way. With low-key formalities taking place at a church or registry office and the personalised ceremony shared with friends & family at an entirely different time.

Your ceremony doesn’t actually have to be held on the same day as the legal bits - that can come much later if necessary. If the most important thing for you is sharing your vows with your friends & family, you can start planning a personalised ceremony, with us right now…

With an outdoor ceremony, you can really make the very most of the chosen landscape. Whether a location has sentimental value, or has been chosen for its aesthetic, a ceremony in the open-air is often very personal and special to a couple for the story of it’s surroundings. You can work with the natural landscape to create a stunning ceremony set-up and make the best of the views and setting which can make for some epic wedding photography!

Make an ever-lasting impression on your guests by styling an outdoor ceremony space with walkways, lighting and an arbour. There really is something quite magical about taking your vows outside and an arbour dressed in statement blooms draws the eyes ahead and will frame the two of you to make for a romantic and ethereal setting for your service.

Perhaps there’s a building or structure that serves this purpose already on-site at your chosen venue? We’re happy to discuss your vision for the space and look at ways to set-up walkways and seating around your chosen ceremonial location.

Ok, we do get that the weather can sometimes complicate matters, but don’t let that stop you from going ahead with your plans to take your vows outside. We are flexible and ceremony spaces can be last minute decisions. We have a number of smaller marquees that can be used as a canopy or ceremonial space. Our vintage 7m traditional canvas and timber pole structure works perfectly and aesthetically, looks jaw-dropping placed next to one of our bigger structures.

The beauty about a personalised ceremony is that you can make it your own. If you are considering an outdoor wedding ceremony, have you thought about using a celebrant to deliver a truly bespoke service? A celebrant will invest heaps of time in getting to know you both to lead a completely tailormade and unique union for you, your friends and family. Whatever your faith or belief, a celebrant represents you as a couple and to tell your story on your big day. A service delivered by a celebrant are usually a little informal, quite creative and lots of fun!

A celebrant led union also offers flexibility and goes hand in hand with an outdoor wedding. You can throw away the rule book and really do your day, your way! Perhaps you want to consider an evening service, lit up by twinkling fairylighting and finished off with a firework finale?! With a marquee wedding and a personalised open-air ceremony, there’s no restrictions with time. Your ‘order of events’ can flow as you wish and you can celebrate exactly how you choose!
